Week #32 in Review!

CLASSROOM NEWS

Happy Mother’s Day from my family to yours!!  I hope this weekend included some family time, some YOU time, and maybe a little relaxation.  You all deserve it!

STAFF APPRECIATION!
It was an amazing week of being honored, spoiled, appreciated, and thanked! The beautiful notes, kind words, and gifts of APPRECIATION were so wonderful and helpful.  We could NOT do our jobs without all of you!  Thank you for appreciated us even if there are days you may not understand us or the decisions we HAVE to make.  Please know we always have the child's best interest in our heart.

HELP NEEDED:
We have 8 Android Samsung Galaxy 4 tablets in our classroom.  We are in need of protective cases for them. As much as we try to keep them scratch free and safe, accidents happen.  If you know anybody connections or someone who has refurbished cases to fit this set of 8 Galaxy 4 tablets please let me know.  I’ve inquired about Gumdrop Cases (which I love) but I cannot afford 8 of them.  Any leads…please let me know!  Thanks!

LANGUAGE ARTS
We finished reading a Hardy Boys - The Mystery Map book to the class.  I’m not sure what the next read aloud with be but the 3rd grade teacher are throwing around some ideas.

There is NO MAY/JUNE READING CLENDAR!  The third graders each need to work toward a personal reading goal that we will put in their planner.

We are planning a Pen Pal Meet & Greet with our third grade Pen Pals from Wixom Elementary for Wednesday, June 1st.  The Wixom Elementary students will be coming to visit Loon Lake Elementary school after lunch and we will celebrate a year of writing!

Over the next few weeks the students will be writing using all of the types of writing they’ve learned this year.  It’s time to focus on the “meat” of their writing now that the basic structures have been taught and practiced.  The students can now support a claim by using reasoning and evidence from a variety of texts, add relevant and meaningful word choices to strengthen their sentences, as well as research a topic and write an informational piece. The students know how to write to an audience and have a purpose for their writing.
