It was a full week of learning last week. Wednesday we had time with our Kindergarten Learning Buddies and PLAYED! Yes, played! The students were so supportive and positive while role playing, building, creating, and learning.
We also had another big day Friday with B.Y.O.D (Bring Your Own Device) day! Every Friday will be a B.Y.O.D. day! Please have everything downloaded and logged in so that your child can easily access reading, writing, spelling, and math apps appropriate for school. Thanks!
The students are working on finding evidence when they read informational texts. Our Storyworks Jr. Magazine allows us to highlight and find evidence right in the text! Boy, do third graders like to highlight! So, a few sessions were spent on knowing what to highlight as the information pertained to questions I asked.
Our area of focus is writing a complete paragraph using a topic sentence, 3-5 detail sentences, and a concluding sentence. A second area of review was nouns. The students had a noun hunt!
We are working Unit 3. Click HERE for the Family Note!
Homework is given every Tuesday and Thursday. Each home-link is a review of a concept the students have learned in class. We encourage parents to help with the home-links as well as ask the students questions.
The crayfish have arrived and they are HUGE! This is the largest batch I’ve ever had delivered to my classroom.
Fun times! We are also working with seeds and what ALL living things need in order to survive.
Unit 2 covers Michigan’s economy! We read a story titled Pizza for the Queen that does a nice job of showing all of the produce and ingredients needed to make pizza for the consumer
